Citroen DS Additional Information
In 1934 Citroen amazed the world with the launch of their Traction Avant. Then in 1955 they did so again at the Paris Salon with the launch of their DS. Designed with such futuristic vision, below its aerodynamically efficient low-drag body shell, there is an all-independent self-levelling, hydro-pneumatic suspension with power-operated brakes, clutch and steering. The ride quality & performance meant that no other car on offer from Europe could match that of the DS for many years to come. The success of the hydro-pneumatic suspension was demonstrated by its survival for another forty years. Built to top-of-the-range Pallas specification, this late-model (Right Hand Drive) DS23 retains its original, electronic fuel-injected 2.3 litre engine and has the highly desirable 5-speed manual transmission. The Pallas luxury equipment package gives the DS a subtle air of extra-refinement and distinction. Registered in October 1974, with full Citroen/specialist service history, this car is finished in Camargue blue paint with re trimmed cream nappa leather interior & blue piping. An extremely rare factory original UK RHD car, benefiting from having only 2 previous owners during its 44 years, highlighting how well this car has been coveted. Being subject to a full cosmetic restoration in 2002 it still presents & drives superbly having had limited dry use since. With advanced & chic factory design innovations including a fibreglass roof lowering the centre of gravity, inboard front brakes that reduced unsprung weight, wider front to rear track widths and tyre sizes for improved aerodynamics, these cars are iconic moving works of art. This DS Pallas is supplied complete with its original jack, tools, oil cans & a comprehensive history file. Perfect for the Goodwood Revival!
