Mercedes-Benz E Class Additional Information

Registered on December 31st 1991 in Germany this W124 series 500E is finished in Blue Black metallic paint (199U) with black/grey sports check cloth & half leather upholstery (071). Having covered just 80k miles (showing 128,000kms) from new, the interior presents almost as new. This car found its way to the UK in 2001 when it’s long term custodian who was based mainly in London apparently kept the car between here & his other home in Lisbon, using the 500E occasionally for his journey travelling between the two countries. In January 2018 ownership passed to the gentleman’s son upon his passing, & sometime later the car was then sold to its most recent owner in 2020 who has had the car well maintained during their ownership using Mercedes Benz service specialists. For sale on their behalf this iconic W124 500E has received various replacement OEM parts where required, some of which include new rear suspension bushes, sub frame, arms & various service items including a new set of premium tyres recently fitted. A new Blaupunkt Blue Tooth stereo head unit with hands free function & music streaming has also been fitted for modern day driving/communication advantages, and a new set of ribbed style carpet mats now compliment that impressive interior. This examples presents superbly in the most desirable colour combination. Now for a bit of history on this model..The 500E/E500 (W124.036) models were produced from 1990 to 1995 as Mercedes-Benz' high-performance version of the W124. Due to Mercedes' engineering department being completely occupied developing the new S-Class W140, Mercedes-Benz commissioned Porsche in 1989 to redesign & rebuild the W124 chassis to accommodate the M119 5.0L V8 engine, as used in the SL500 R129, along with the required changes to the suspension system and drive train. The cars were built between both the Mercedes-Benz & Porsche factories (making 17 journeys to & from during the build process). A total of over 1,100 new or modified parts featured. A true icon within the history of Mercedes Benz was born, and a prequel to the AMG cars of today. With a total of only 10,479 examples made between 1991 & 1995 these models are one of the rarest of all that Mercedes-Benz produced. Do contact us for more information or to arrange a viewing.
